2. How to Get to Jermuk by Plane
Jermuk is a small town and does not have an airport. However, you can book a flight to Yerevan and then transfer to a bus or taxi. This is a great option for those looking for an affordable way to travel to Jermuk from European countries or neighboring Georgia.
Getting from Zvartnots Airport to Jermuk
The most budget-friendly option is public transport. Bus 201 runs from the airport to Yerevan every half hour. You’ll need to take this bus to the Kilikia Central Bus Station and then transfer to bus 557, which goes directly to Jermuk.

Important! The bus from Yerevan to Jermuk only departs twice a day.
If you prefer comfort and don’t want to wait for public transport, you can arrange a transfer to Jermuk from $122. On the GoTrip website, you can select a driver and specify the type of car you need, including the number of seats, body type, luggage space, etc. After submitting your request, the driver will contact you to confirm the details of your trip and will be waiting for you at the airport with a name sign.

3. How to Get to Jermuk by Train
Let’s clarify right away: there are no direct trains from Yerevan to Jermuk. However, you can plan a route through the village of Armash.
Armash is a charming Armenian village where you can meet locals, enjoy authentic khorovats (Armenian barbecue), and escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The sunrise views here are breathtaking, especially if you decide to stay overnight.
To get to Jermuk, you’ll first need to purchase a ticket for the Yerevan – Yeraskh train at the Central Railway Station.
- Departure Time: Daily at 19:00
- Travel Time: 1 hour and 23 minutes
- Cost: 700 AMD
After arriving at Armash station, take some time to soak in the local culture before catching a taxi or transfer to Jermuk. Don’t worry — the journey will only take about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
4. How to Get to Jermuk by Bus
If you’re looking for an affordable way to reach Jermuk, consider using public transport. There is one bus that operates on this route: bus 557. It departs from the Kilikia Central Bus Station in Yerevan and makes three additional stops: at Labor Square in Yerevan, and at the Yeghegnadzor and Vayk bus stations. The final stop is Jermuk.
- Departure Times: Daily at 15:00 and 16:00
- Travel Time: Approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes (from the bus station)
- Cost: 2,000 AMD
Tip! If you’re not planning a long stay in Jermuk, it’s still a good idea to arrange accommodation for the night, as the bus arrives in the city late in the evening. You can choose to stay in a sanatorium, a modern hotel, or a cozy hostel. Ideally, you might want to stay in the tourist area of the city before moving to the residential part.
5. How to Get to Jermuk by Car
Traveling around Armenia by car could be an exciting experience. You can reach the beautiful city of Jermuk from Yerevan via three different routes.
First Route: E117
This is the fastest route, but we recommend making several stops along the way. For instance, near the city of Artashat, you can visit the Khor Virap Monastery, which is known as the birthplace of Christianity in Armenia. This site includes the dungeon where King Trdat III imprisoned Gregory the Illuminator for 13 years, as well as a chapel. Both sites are open to tourists.
You might also want to stop in the city of Ararat and then visit the origins of Armenian winemaking in the village of Areni.

Second Route: H10 and E117
This route is very similar to the first one, so you can choose based on your comfort level with the roads.

Third Route: M4 and M10
This route is ideal for those who want to enjoy not only the journey from Yerevan to Jermuk but also a visit to Lake Sevan. You will have time to stop in Areni and explore its wine-making complex. If you’re up for it, you can continue south to see Tatev, one of Armenia’s most significant and inspiring monasteries. Founded in the 9th century, it served as a spiritual and educational center for many years. Tatev is located high in the mountains, surrounded by stunning ridges and deep gorges.

- Travel Time: Approximately 3 hours and 39 minutes (excluding stops)

6. How to Get to Jermuk by Transfer
