1. How to Travel from Yerevan to Sevan
Armenia is a country that takes your breath away with its ancient history and stunning beauty. Here, you’ll find a mix of nature, architecture, and incredibly talented people who truly make you proud of this land! Lake Sevan is one of those special places. It feels like a piece of our hearts as Armenians. When you’re there, you experience something extraordinary, as if you’ve stepped into another dimension.
It’s hard to believe that the distance from Yerevan to Sevan is just 60 kilometers! The drive takes about an hour. But there are several transportation options available, which we’ll share with you. Choose the one that works best for your travel plans!

2. Minibuses from Yerevan to Sevan
Where: From the Northern Bus Station and the center of Sevan (6 km to the lake) – round trip
When: Every day
Minibuses run from Yerevan to Sevan approximately every half hour from the Northern Bus Station. They leave as soon as they fill up with passengers. The ticket price is quite affordable (just a couple of dollars), but getting to the station from the city center can be a bit tricky. Most people take a taxi and ask for help finding where the buses stop.
If you’re unsure where to get off, just ask the driver in advance. But if you miss your stop, don’t worry! You can try to hitch a ride. Armenians are very kind and won’t leave you stranded, especially taxi drivers who hang out by the lake during the busy season. They’ll happily give you a lift closer to your destination, often with jokes and songs along the way. As they say, “Any whim for your money!”
Another option is to take minibuses to the resort town of Dilijan (which we also recommend visiting). They leave from the Northern Bus Station and pass by the lake. Just ask the driver to drop you off where you need.
If you ask locals how to get back from Sevan to Yerevan, they’ll point you to the minibus stop. There are plenty of taxi drivers in town, but their prices can vary widely.

Make sure to compare transportation options! The bus from Sevan to Yerevan will take you into the city (but not directly to the center). From there, you can catch another bus or taxi to reach downtown. When you add up all the costs, it might not be as economical as it seems!
